Traditional Sieko'pai house TUIKË' WË'E  2024

During 2024, a traditional house was constructed through the wisdom of the elders and the strong hands of the community’s youth. Built post by post and leaf by leaf using materials from the living forest, carefully tended and preserved, this project reflects a deep connection to the land and ancestral knowledge. The construction was made possible through donations and contributions from visitors and friends around the world, as well as through remaining funds from previous projects supported by those who have visited the community.

Community Workshop 2022

A simple yet welcoming house, generously donated by Alpine Roofing along with carpentry tools and machinery, serves as a hub for creativity and community work. The ground floor functions as a well-equipped workshop and maintenance space, while the second floor offers comfortable accommodations for up to ten visitors, providing a direct experience of community life. This space brings together traditional crafts, creative initiatives, and the care of both land and tools, reflecting the spirit of collaboration and shared knowledge.

The Bamboo house 2022/2023

The bamboo house, built in 2023 thanks to the inspiration and dedication of our friend Hans Hass, is located in Sieko’pai territory. It serves as a gathering place for visitors, workshops, students, and family events. Although the structure is standing, the project remains unfinished. We are seeking funding to complete it with safe water, sanitation, windows, and improved roofing. These upgrades will ensure a dignified life for two elders, guardians of ancestral knowledge, and four generations of their family, while strengthening a key communal space for cultural transmission and intergenerational activities.

Traditional Sieko'pai house
TUIKË' WË'E 2017

This traditional Sieko'pai house was conceived to host Amazonian family traditions: making clay, preparing casabe, and brewing yuca or chonta chicha. A warm, feminine space that gently nurtures through the act of creating.

Cataract Surgery for elder Basilio 2025

From September 7th to 19th, Basilio, his daughter and granddaughter stayed at Pumamaki for eye treatment. Ophthalmological exams led to successful cataract surgery on his left eye, followed by post-operative care and rest. His recovery has been excellent, and treatment on the right eye continues. Because the right eye couldn’t be operated on due to an ulcer and requires further care until the end of the year, a second campaign is being launched to fund the next surgery and provide glasses to address newly identified astigmatism.

Visiting the community with purpose

For many years, we have engaged in respectful and mindful cultural exchanges with visitors from other cultures to promote, support, and sustain the endangered culture and its resilient territory.

Workshops

By sharing ancestral knowledge with visitors and organizing traditional workshops, the community keeps alive the transmission of wisdom between generations. These activities value and empower cultural practices and traditional skills while reconnecting with the land through chambira palm, clay, and natural pigments.

All crafts depend on a healthy, living forest, highlighting the inseparable link between cultural preservation and environmental stewardship. Through these shared experiences, knowledge, traditions, and endangered habitats are valued and protected.
