Community Pet Care
The Sieko’pai community, part of the Tucano Amazon culture near Ecuador’s Aguarico River, holds rich ancestral knowledge in mythology, architecture, medicinal plants, and gastronomy, yet faces challenges from extractivism, alcoholism, deforestation, and pollution.
Pet care is not a strong point in the Sieko’pai community, as having cats and dogs is a new concept as well.

Community Pet Care
This project aims to improve the health and well-being of pets in Sieko'pai territory, addressing the lack of resources and knowledge about animal care. There is often a struggle to manage new pests like rats and cockroaches, pet care is also often poorly handled due to a lack of knowledge and resources.
Veterinary & educational needs
Clinical assessments help identify specific pet needs, including veterinary check-ups in town for vaccinations, deworming, and antibiotic treatments. However, veterinary care alone is not enough if the community lacks the necessary knowledge to care for their animals.
To address this, educational workshops on animal care will be held alongside veterinary visits. These sessions will cover essential topics such as parasite prevention, nutrition, sterilization, and overall pet health. By combining medical care with education, we aim to empower the community with the skills and knowledge needed to ensure the well-being of their animals in the jungle environment.
